Guten Morgen … may this blog find you well, in “Almost Heaven…“
With your Medicare insurance keeping you out of the valleys.

Remember that song The Boys Are Back In Town?
Last weekend, we were back in town, back in the Shenandoah Valley, life long friends home to connect, to camp, and to climb a mountain.
Kenny’s mom went to college with my mom in this area 76 years ago. They would have looked up at the Laird’s Knob almost every day.

We fellas hadn’t overnighted in the mountains in 15 years so we rallied forces and made it happen on Luke’s birthday.

We hiked, laughed at sore bones, camped out, cooked meat, drank beer, shot the shijt…
The years disappeared.

It was a tunnel back to our youth, spending time together and reconnecting the dots.

It wasn’t easy making this happen, but it was worth the effort.
So I thought it timely when Quantz sent me this tool created by the MIT AgeLab and John Hancock to assess and improve your longevity preparedness. It only takes 10 minutes, so check it out. The national average is 60. I’ll be curious to hear how you score.

It turns out “you can live a healthy and happy life well into your 90s and beyond” with three simple steps.
- Be aware
- Assess your situation
- Take action
Notice which people and activities drain your joy; give them less of your time.
Identifying the people, places, and activities that give your life meaning can pay off in unbelievable ways…
Like when Luke’s snoring 😪💤 woke us at 4 AM, the battery on his CPAP machine had died🪫🤣.

We rose early Saturday, cold and stiff, stoked the fire, made breakfast, drank coffee, and broke camp, each of us going his separate way, but our hearts filled with kinship, knowing “the circle is unbroken.”
And yes, “gettin’ old ain’t for sissies,” but each day above ground is a gift. The choice is ours.
So be like my big brother Rob, keep squeezing the juice out of life, no matter what!
Keep asking, “What’s the next big thing?”
If family or friends need help… referrals are the lifeblood of my business.
