Nobody likes the fires out west but the sunsets sure are pretty. Plato and I are taking our walks late at night and early in the morning.
My wife Quantz has been volunteering at the Denver Zoo. They’ve been working her hard. Her goal is to get through all the scut work so that eventually they will let her work with the animals🐻❄️🦍🦁.
As you know, “gettin’ old ain’t for sissies,” and it requires constant adaptation to get the most out of life. One of the simplest adaptations you may want to consider is getting your shingles vaccination.
A large study of more than 500,000 older adults found that receiving the shingles vaccine was associated with a 24% lower relative risk of developing dementia over four years.
The research does not yet prove that the vaccine prevents dementia, but it adds to growing evidence that protecting yourself from shingles may also help protect your brain.
We’ve been teaching our French visitor about the power of American burgers! I’m not sure my famous pretzel bagel burger is protecting him from memory loss, but Justin will definitely remember his adventure in the US.
The Shingrix shingles vaccine is $0 with both:
- MAPD plans that include Part D drug coverage
- Standalone Part D prescription plans

There is no deductible, copay or coinsurance for either of the two recommended doses, provided it is processed through the plan’s Part D benefit, usually at an in-network pharmacy.
A Medicare Advantage plan without Part D coverage would not automatically include this protection. Original Medicare Part B does not cover the shingles vaccine.
We went to one of the local free concerts nearby and saw this lady and her dog rockin’!
